  • 4 Tablespoons Plain Flour For coating meat
  • 1 Bunch Spring Onions Chopped
  • 1 Brown onion Chopped
  • 1 Teaspoon Five Spice Seasoning For coating meat
  • 60 mls Peanut Oil
  • 1 Kg Gravy Beef Diced
  • 2 Teaspoons fresh ginger Chopped
  • 1 red chilli to taste, seeds removed
  • 50 Grams brown sugar
  • 1/2 Cup Rice Wine
  • 1 Litre Beef Stock
  • 1/4 Cup Soy Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons Peanut Butter
  • 2 Tablespoons Hoisin Sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons brown sugar

Mix the flour and five spice together and coat the meat. Cook the meat in a frypan till browned all over, then set aside. Add the onion to the pan until softened and then add the spring onions, ginger and chilli. After this has been cooked through, add the flour that you had left over, sugar, soy sauce, peanut butter, and hoisin, stock to the pan. Stir it all together and bring to the boil. Put into a casserole dish and cook for approximately 90 minutes or until the beef is tender.
